40 Hour Basic Crisis Negotiation Course
[Waltham, MA | May 13-17, 2019]

Bentley University Police Department will host a week-long Basic Crisis Negotiation Course offered by the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI). The training is designed for seasoned law enforcement personnel who will serve as crisis/hostage negotiators. The course is not intended for first responders or executive managers.

The course will be held at Bentley University, Jennison Hall, Room 212, 175 Forest Street, Waltham, MA and will commence at 9:00 am on May 13, 2019 and conclude at 5:00 pm on May 17, 2019. The training includes classroom instruction, case studies, and role-play exercises. Attendees will be expected to actively participate.

The training is offered at no cost. Class size will be limited and interested agencies are encouraged to respond quickly. Response deadline is May 1, 2019. Suicide and Aging – A Gatekeepers Workshop
[2, 4, or 8 hrs]

This training focuses on the suicide problem in the 55 and older age group. Gatekeepers are people who, through their personal , professional or volunteer activities, have regular contact with older adults. After the training participants will be able to assess an older adults suicide risk, intervene with an individual at risk, and connect older adults with ongoing professional help.

Continuing Education Credits (CEUs) are available for social workers, Licensed Mental Health Counselors (LMHCs)and Licensed Drug and Alcohol Counselors(LADC).

Samaritans Training Facilitator

Middle Aged Men and Suicide – A Troubling Trend
[2 hrs]

The Samaritans of the Merrimack Valley is offering this FREE DPH-funded training. This training focuses on the alarming number of suicide deaths in the 35-64 year old male demographic. After the training, participants will be able to identify risk and protective factors and warning signs, ask questions about suicide risk, develop a safety plan and provide middle aged men with resources.

Continuing Education Credits (CEUs) are available for social workers, Licensed Mental Health Counselors (LMHCs)and Licensed Drug and Alcohol Counselors(LADC).
